  13. I have USR Worldport Dual Standard 28.8 PCMCIA modem with country code
  14. Germany (16). As described in the German documentation that modem
  15. should be able to auto-answer (ATA command). Neither in the docs nor
  16. in a readme file I found any hint about (maybe country-specific)
  17. restrictions of this command.

  19. Whenever a ATA or ATH1 command is started the error OFF HOOK
  20. RESTRICTED appears. After switching to numeric output ATA shows the
  21. error code 54.

  23. S40.1 is somewhere documented as "disable ATA". But S40 is set to 0 as
  24. well as S53.

  26. I tried to find hints how to change the country code but without
  27. success.
  28. What am I missing ? Do I have any chance to teach the modem to
  29. auto-answer ?
